Ceasefire is a Griffith University student film Directed by James Kirkwood. I had the privilege of being Assistant Art Director over the course of production, where I mainly focused my attention towards helping to manage a team of 9 background artists. This involved giving prompt individual feedback, as well as completing final paint over revisions for 16 backgrounds. In addition to this, I also developed the full colourscript for the film.
One of my major roles on the project as Assistant Art Director was to create a comprehensive, 28 page guide on how to approach and replicate the look of the film’s watercolour-esque style. This helped onboard new background artists as well as streamline our workflows.
In addition to this role, I worked on early Visual Development for background character designs, as well as the cat.
In the last stretch of production, I composited the final lighting and VFX to a total of 39 shots using After Effects.
This is a small snippet of the guide I made for our team of background artists, which goes in-depth about the entirety of the film’s background art process.
